Pentaho: ” A complete business intelligence platform that includes reporting, analysis (OLAP), dashboards, data mining and data integration (ETL). Use it as a full suite or as individual components that are accessible via web services.”

    Although it is not open source, AgileGraph is a free BI application for simple desktop analysis.

    It seems useful for creating charts and graphs from Excel spreadsheets. (They claim to visualize Google and Open Office spreadsheets, but I have not tried it.)

    The result is a dashboard-like interface that contains multiple bar charts, pie charts, and scatter plots.
